Bintan is a favourite destination among Malaysians and Singaporeans for a short weekend getaway. There are heaps of deals that you can get from the internet to get there.
We bought this deal from Agro Beach Resort for a 2D1N getaway. There was a choice between standard hotel rooms or chalet style (like the one in the photo) to choose from with different price tags. They're not in the same hotel compound but you could still hitch a ride with the hotel's tuk tuk to visit their other residences.
Unfortunately, we picked the wrong time to get there. The weekend we were there, it was all rain and thunderstorm so we were confined to our room and hotel. Thankfully, we managed to visit the chalets the day before.
Bintan is a peaceful little place nested not too far away from Singapore. You could get a ferry ride from either Harbourfront or Tanah Merah ferry terminal (which is more common) to get there.
