The third leg of the trip is another long drive from Tennant Creek to Alice Springs. The journey took us about 7 hours inclusive of a short break for lunch and time for changing of drivers.
But before that, we managed to visit Devils Marbles, or better known as Karru Karru in its aboriginal name. These are huge stones scattered all over the valley. It's amazing to see so many of these huge boulders lying around in various shapes and sizes.
That's the road towards the main site of which one could get really nice pics of these boulders. If you're up for it, you could even create some creative poses.
The journey around Central Australia is often a lonely one, with an occasional caravan or two on the road. It's therefore important when that you've a companion on the road to keep you awake while driving along a long unending track like this.
We stopped for fuel at a random place and saw these four vehicle carcasses. It reminded me of a scene from Cars for some reason.
Often, the petrol station that we stopped by are not like the modern ones that we're used to. The ones that we've seen thus far are usually very old school pumps, with probably just a person manning the place. Fuel in these area are generally more expensive but a full tank should last you about 300 km or so, thus wouldn't increase your transport cost excessively.
Here's a picture of Alice Springs town area after a 7 hours journey! We were famished and went straight for a late lunch. Most eateries were already closed for lunch business by then, so we were fortunate to find an Asian still serving food at that hour.
There wasn't too many interesting sights in Alice Springs that are within the town area. Most of it requires a drive and by the time we reach, it would have been near the closing hours. Therefore, for this leg of the journey, it was merely a transit point before we finally head to the Red Centre!
